A pharmacy POS system built for Kenyan chemists
Whether you run a community chemist in an estate in Nairobi, a pharmacy on a busy street in Mombasa or Kisumu, or a wholesale pharmacy supplying clinics, the counter works the same way: the customer asks for a medicine, you find it, check it has not expired, take M-Pesa or cash and give a receipt. Afritelligence puts all of that on one screen.
Search a medicine by its brand or generic name — Panadol or paracetamol, Augmentin or amoxicillin-clavulanate — and the till picks the batch that expires first. Expired batches are blocked from sale, so they never leave the shop by mistake.
Expiry dates and batches, the way Kenyan pharmacies need them
Medicines arrive from distributors in batches with different expiry dates. Each delivery is entered with its batch number and expiry date, and each batch keeps its own count. You see what expires in the next 30, 60, 90 or 180 days, and its value, so you can sell it first or return it to the distributor in time.
- ✓Batch number and expiry date on every delivery
- ✓First-expiry, first-out at the till; expired stock is blocked
- ✓Expiry report by 30, 60, 90 or 180 days, with the value at risk
- ✓Prescription-only medicines (POM) flagged at the till
- ✓Low-stock alerts and a reorder plan from what actually sells
M-Pesa, cash and customer accounts
Record the M-Pesa transaction code with each sale, split a sale between M-Pesa and cash, and close the day with a cash count. Regular customers and clinics can buy on account with a credit limit, and get a statement of what they owe.
KRA PIN, VAT and eTIMS
Your KRA PIN prints on every receipt. Each product can be standard-rated at 16% VAT or exempt, so exempt medicines and VAT-able items like cosmetics are handled correctly on the same receipt. A direct connection to KRA eTIMS is on our roadmap; today your sales, VAT and receipts are ready for your accountant.
What is pharmacy software?
